![]() “Heya, youngling,” the visored mech said in a soft tone. Mirage stared at the stranger’s hand, expecting him to pull him by the face. The visored mech observed Mirage for a moment before going down to one knee and held out a hand at the sparkling. “This is the cargo?” said the blue visored mech, gesturing at Mirage in surprise. The vehicle transformed, now became a mech with a blue visor and Autobot brands on his shoulders. Soundwave has yet to answer when a white-and-black four-wheeler vehicle approached them. Surrounding him and Soundwave was not walls, but buildings and stretch of black that goes without end. Before him lay a road he recognized from the photo logs. It quickly enveloped Mirage as he climbed out of Soundwave. After half a joor, he felt Soundwave lowering himself down and opened the compartment.Īn unfamiliar whisk of air hit Mirage. It was impossible to tell where the Communications Officer was bringing him. Soundwave came into his room one day before shift, woke him up, told him to climb into the compartment in his chest that was empty of Casseticons and stay quiet. His whole back still hurt from the last brawl. He did not remember cleaning anything, yet Shockwave ended his shift like normal.Īs scary as those were, Mirage would rather clean the officers' personal belongings over the public mess hall. Every time he approached the cleaning station, one moment he saw all the tools and the next they were gone. He hated going to Shockwave’s lab the most. On rare occasions, he would be in the science lab cleaning Shockwave’s tools. Sometimes he was needed to clean Lord Megatorn’s prized cannon or Starscream’s swords. He would scrub places where the cleaning drones could not reach. Mirage may be waiting for his execution date but he had work to do. That meant he would leave Mirage without hitting him for the rest of the cycle. As kin of Crystal City, I wait for my execution date to pay for the crimes my city has wrought upon Cybertron with their riches.” “I am alive to set an example to all of the high caste on Cybertron that we deserve no more than death. “And this-” the picture changed where it showed glittering rubble “-is what became of them. “This is the forging place of your wretched kind,” said the mighty figure at the picture showing tall glittering towers. ![]() Lord Megatron was furious when he found the picture logs in Mirage’s quarters. Soundwave even allowed Mirage to draw and gave him a few picture logs showing the days before the war. The Communications Officer was the one who gave him drawing pads in the first place, it made sense that he never did any of that. The only mech who never threatened to destroy them, mock his drawings, or his creators and butler was Soundwave. This one did not so why did it make him feel dizzy? Every time a drawing pad broke, Mirage felt an odd swell forming in his chest. Now the one with his butler was gone, too. ![]() The third and fourth were drawings of his lord creators. The second had a drawing of Crystal City Mirage drew from memory of the pictures he saw. The first one had a drawing of his Tower (or one Crystal City Tower). “Remove those wings when you draw your dearest butler next time. “The only fliers in the Towers are grounded fliers.” Starscream said, grabbing Mirage by his face vent until his claws left scratches. He had asked Starscream once, who answered by throwing his drawing pad to the floor, shattering it. Mirage wondered what kind of flier he was. He was purple with blue optics and huge wings on his back. He remembered his butler’s frame, though. Sometimes he forgot which pattern belongs to who no matter how many times he drew them. His carrier would share his paint pattern while his sire’s were reversed. Mirage imagined his creators look just like him: white and blue with yellow optics. A Tower’s butler was considered as the third parent of a Tower’s heirs by default, so his butler continued his duty until he, too, succumbed to an injury he had gained from the bombings. Mirage’s lord carrier had died shortly after bringing him to the world due to the spark trauma of the emergence, and the death of her consort worsened her condition until she succumbed to it. He did remember the stories and pictures of them through his butler. The Towers fell shortly after Mirage was born, so he remembered none of their glory and might.
